About 2 years ago I moved into my apartment. I loved my place except for the fact that it had this really heavy, really stiff sliding balcony door that, after a while, took its toll on my left wrist. I started to notice that I could no longer put any pressure on it - it was just too painful. This was really frustrating for me but I thought there was nothing that could be done and accepted the fact that yoga would never be the same.

Then I noticed that my jaw started to click every time I ate anything - especially hard chews like apples and dense bread. Not only was it annoying but it often was very painful. Once again, I didn’t think anything could help and I was going to go on and not do anything about it, hoping that it would eventually disappear or I would learn to live with it. So I just ended up avoiding some of the foods that I love, like sushi.

I never thought that chiropractic could help me because, well, chiropractic is for the back and my back is fine. It’s my wrist and jaw that have the problem, right? But after learning a little more about chiropractic, I realized that there were ways that it could help me aside from my back.

Even after one adjustment, I can honestly say that my wrist felt better. I lived with the pain for 2 years and within days, I was back to normal. I was very impressed and relieved to feel normal again.
It's not the only improvements I have experienced since seeing a chiropractor. Now I am comfortable eating everything again, even sushi!

I feel so fortunate to have had this opportunity. I never thought that seeing a chiropractor would help with my wrist or jaw, but I was shockingly surprised. Well if I didn’t know it was Dr. Maya’s professional touch, I would have said it was a miracle.  I came to her some months back with two life-stopping issues: a 20 year migraine problem that was becoming weekly and wildly intense period cramps.  The quality of my life has just gotten better and better ever since to the point now where I haven’t had a migraine in weeks and this past menstrual cycle was a non-issue.

Last spring, I decided that I wanted to run my first half marathon, but had never been a runner before. Not only did I want to cross the finish line at the end of September, but I also wanted to do so while smiling!

During my training,  I began seeing Dr. Maya for chiropractic adjustments twice a week for a month, and then graduated to just once a week. I truly believe that this helped my body become better able to handle the stress from training.

She also fitted me for custom orthotics, which were nothing short of amazing! I have found that orthotics have been very helpful because I used to have quite a lot of pain in my feet and knees after running long distances. The orthotics helped to support my feet perfectly.

An unexpected side effect of seeing Dr. Maya combined with the change in my lifestyle was that my immune system got a boost as well. I typically used to get sick at least twice a year, but not so last year!
