Andria Barrett, CNP is trained to guide you in making the nutritional and lifestyle choices that can help you prevent disease and build superior health.
The Holistic Approach
Holistic Nutrition looks at the whole person, so your recommendations will include nutritional advice but will also consider lifestyle, stress management and emotional well-being. A nutritional counsellor will assess your nutritional excesses and deficiencies using nutritional symptomatology to pinpoint the imbalances.
You will receive individualized recommendations because every person is biochemically unique. There is not one diet that is right for everyone.
Andria believes in using a gradual approach to making changes in the diet. Trying to change too much at once can be very overwhelming, hard on your body and difficult to maintain. She also believes in adding to the diet, not just taking away.
Nutritional counselling will introduce you to new, healthy foods while slowly helping you to eliminate the foods that have a negative affect on your health. In many cases, supplementation to the diet is necessary for a period of time, but the focus is on getting the nutrients you need from whole foods and making sure your body is able absorb them efficiently.
Andria also promotes living an environmentally conscious lifestyle and whenever possible, choosing seasonal, local and sustainably-grown organic foods.
